Education

Pakistan has a large school-going population, yet, the government allocates less than two percent of its budget for the cause of education. There are insufficient government schools; and hundreds of thousands of poor families never get a chance to enroll their children to avail of free education.

Conversely, families are forced to enroll their children into private schools and face the constant burden of financial constraints to continuing their basic education.

Article 25-A of the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees the right to free and compulsory education to all children of age 5 to 16 years in Pakistan, to be provided by the State. Zaman Foundation supplements government welfare to realize every child’s right to quality education by providing educational financial assistance to underprivileged children and families, for primary as well as higher education.

In 2020/2021 Zaman Foundation provided educational financial assistance in form of tuition waivers and books and copies to 1055 primary and secondary school students.
